Tyler and I planned a beautiful wedding at an open air venue in downtown Pharr full of bougainvillea and ivy covered trees. Although we were certain that the day of March 4 would be welcoming to our guests with breezy and sunny weather, we could not have been more wrong…
It turned out to be the rainiest day of the year yet! Despite the dark clouds, we powered forward as planned: the wedding party got ready, the photographers arrived and we scurried into the limo to head to the venue. Upon arrival, I opened my umbrella and jumped over a puddle to meet Tyler. We took those moments amidst the rain-soaked venue to just be together before we decided to tackle plan B for our reception. After our wedding party joined us for memorable photos and, after evaluating the damage, made the necessary calls and by late afternoon I was walking down the aisle at our new hotel venue. Miraculously all the décor, food and drinks arrived on time and Tyler and I had an incredible celebration with our friends and family.
Our wedding day, to me, was a lesson from God that no matter what we have planned for our lives that He is truly in control and can change our stories however He wants to. In the end, it was a wonderful evening full of the people we love most, celebrating our new life together. Although our original wedding hashtag was #elliffeverafter, it was dubbed #helliffawedding by our friends, which ended up being a perfect fit for our special day!
