Jenika Gonzalez & Francisco Del Angel
Married July 5, 2020
Our wedding day was an absolute dream, but the journey getting there was a road full of obstacles that challenged us like no other. Like many couples this year, the pandemic threw us a major curveball and we had to cancel our original plans for a California wedding due to the nationwide shutdown. Deposits were lost, flights were cancelled, and we almost threw in the towel; but Frankie and I remained positive and adapted to the situation. We kept our original July 5th wedding date, and planned a backyard celebration with immediate family. We invited the rest of our guests to watch virtually with a “watch party kit” filled with popcorn, koozies and other goodies to enjoy the day with us in spirit. Hosting our backyard wedding was a full circle moment for us, as Frankie’s parents are home builders in the RGV and our families met over a decade ago while building a home. Frankie and I met for the first time at a model house and his parents just built our very first home. Ultimately, our casual and intimate nuptials was the best day we could have asked for.
