Like so many fellow couples whose weddings were halted by the sudden impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, Destiny and Angel knew it wasn’t the end for their dream wedding. Pushing their original date into 2021, the couple followed the recommended guidelines to ensure the safety of their guests so that they could finally say “I Do.”
The morning of April 11th found Destiny surrounded by her mother and bridesmaids as she became a stunning bride in a sparkling mermaid gown with a sweetheart neckline and delicate princess tiara. Meanwhile, Angel and his posse of groomsmen were toasting to the couple’s love and nuptials as they prepared for the celebration. A full-scale wedding with social distancing rules in place, it was God that Destiny and Angel kept their faith in keeping their friends and family safe from the Coronavirus. God blessed the couple with clear, blue skies and warm sunshine for their outdoor wedding ceremony, where Destiny’s parents walked her down the aisle to a Spanish version of Christina Perri’s “A Thousand Years”. The Christian ceremony had the couple lighting their unity candle, and the bride’s grandparents performing the family tradition of placing the Lazo around the newlyweds, something special they have done at every family wedding for years. This humble yet special tradition marked the beginning of Destiny and Angel’s journey as husband and wife.
After the beautiful ceremony, guests roamed the sprawling, lush green property as they played lawn games, snapped playful photos in the vintage camper photo booth, and sipped on refreshing iced coffees. Cups of iced caramel drinks were specially delivered to the bride and groom during their post-ceremony photoshoot.
Soon everyone was welcomed inside the elegant ballroom reception, where spring seemed to welcome summer in with understated elegance. Cream and gold served as the canvas for the vibrant blush, maroon, coral, and fuchsia florals that brought the bride’s unique vision to life. Dinner was served shortly after everyone was seated; a delicious meal of pistachio chicken that the bride and groom couldn’t get enough of. After sating their appetite, Angel led his wife onto the dance floor for a special spotlight dance to “You and Me” by Lighthouse, with their family and friends watching from the sidelines. Soon after, the festivities continued with music, delectable sweets made specially by the mother of the groom, the traditional bouquet toss, and indulging in three wedding cakes, small one-tiered chocolate, and vanilla cakes flanking the amazing centerpiece. The five-tiered confection was filled with the bride’s favorite pink champagne flavor and surrounded by watercolor frosting and a waterfall of fresh flowers. The day’s events led the couple to an early sendoff of sparklers by their guests as they left their reception early – it was a busy wedding day, after all! Mr. & Mrs. Lopez headed to Waco, Texas for a brief honeymoon weekend, but are looking forward to further celebrating their nuptials at the gorgeous Cabo San Lucas. For the couple whose namesakes truly blessed their marriage, the wedding was an affair so beautiful, words couldn’t be found to describe the sheer happiness felt that day. Mrs. Destiny Lopez reflects that she would happily do it all over again, so long as it was with her Angel.
