Nancy Razo Cortez of Honey’s Cakes recently volunteered with Team Mario, leading a hands-on cake decorating workshop for young adults with autism interested in learning creative and career-building skills.
Team Mario is dedicated to raising autism awareness in the community while supporting individuals with autism through outreach and inclusion programs.
Invited by Christine Clifford of Team Mario, Nancy worked one-on-one with students, including Saul, a young man who dreams of becoming a cake decorator. Nancy brought decorating tools and cakes for the students to decorate themselves, creating a fun and sensory-friendly experience tailored to each student’s comfort level.
“I personally love teaching, and being able to work with these students was incredibly fulfilling,” Nancy shared.

Nancy has supported Team Mario for nearly 10 years by donating gingerbread houses and treats for their holiday celebrations. As the mother of a 17-year-old with autism, she says experiences like these are especially meaningful to her.

As a trusted vendor with The Valley Wedding Pages, Nancy continues to make a positive impact both within the wedding industry and throughout the local community through her compassion and dedication to helping others.
The workshop served as a reminder of how community support and encouragement can help young adults pursue their passions and future goals.
