"Jan and I first crossed paths in high school during a school play. He was determined to get to know me better, so he kept showing up to rehearsals. When the play ended, he asked me out on a date to the Hidalgo Festival of Lights. Since then, he has been my unwavering supporter, attending my dance competitions, graduations, and helping me through significant life changes, like helping me move into my college apartment and landing my first job. On one Saturday during Christmas break, back home from college, we revisited the Hidalgo Festival of Lights where it all began. He was nervous all night and I was so confused as to why. When we finally make it to the spot where we took our first pictures together, he turned around and got on one knee. I bursted into tears and was immediately saying yes."
