High school sweethearts, Melanie and Oscar tied the knot during the pandemic with a church ceremony; this year they decided to have the wedding celebration of their dreams surrounded by their family and friends.

Melanie and Oscar’s story began during their middle school years; their wedding celebrated a relationship of over a decade and the beginning of a new chapter. Around the time of their engagement, Melanie and Oscar sorrowfully lost several relatives, and postponed their reception. Though their sacrament was perfect, Melanie and Oscar felt something was missing, having not shared their union with those who have supported them through it all. The couple hosted a vow renewal packed with personal touches and meaningful sentiments honoring their loved ones.

This day celebrated both Melanie and Oscar; Melanie wanted to incorporate as many of her husband’s preferences as possible. Oscar kicked off the planning process with a rich, jewel-toned color palette that harmonized perfectly against the stained-glass backdrop of the Gelman Museum. Melanie walked down the aisle carrying a bouquet of white flowers with touches of lilac, honoring her grandmother from her father’s side. Having not had a first dance at their wedding, Melanie and Oscar were thrilled to perform a heartfelt dance to Can’t Help Falling in Love by Elvis Presley, paying tribute to Melanie’s grandmother from her mother’s side of the family.

An unforgettable moment occurred during dinner as Melanie and Oscar watched their guests laughing and chatting. Oscar turned to Melanie and said, “I can’t believe this is for us.” After experiencing a challenging year, it was beautiful to see their families come together in a joyful celebration of their love story. Their vow renewal was a beautiful reminder of how it all started and how their relationship has grown over the years.
