There was no doubt for Alexandra and Alexander that fate brought them together when they first met in 2019, for it was nearly a year later that Alexander proposed to the love of his life, and just a short three months after that they tied the knot in a micro wedding, with immediate family in attendance due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Though their small, intimate celebration was nothing short of magical, held at a lovely Spanish-style hacienda with florals bursting with color and a flowing lace wedding dress, the newlyweds knew they wanted to have their family and friends join them as they began a new chapter in their life.
A year soon passed, and now with their infant son the newest addition to the family, Alexandra and Alexander were ready to celebrate their One Year anniversary in big, traditional, Mexican-style. Their family and friends following their lead, the bride and groom ventured to the gorgeous city of San Miguel de Allende where Dia De Los Muertos celebrations were already in full vigor. The wedding weekend for Mr. & Mrs. Zendejas began with a lovely celebration on the grounds of the luxurious hotel, the bride dressed in a vivacious red dress and the groom in his navy blue suit from their wedding. Wedding guests dressed in white, colorful papel picado, and the giant bride and groom mojigangas set the mood for the rehearsal dinner. Food, drinks, and dancing kept the night alive, but all too soon the festivities ended and everyone rested before the big day began.
Alexandra and Alexander’s anniversary began with them preparing for their second wedding celebration, each with their friends and family by their side. The bride slipped into a custom wedding dress she co-designed with her fashion designer close friend, a lovely mermaid-style lace gown with a sweetheart neckline. Alexander, dressed in a sleek, black tweed Italian three-piece suit, was given a first look at his wife, the couple sharing a special moment together before they headed to their wedding ceremony.
For the ceremony Alexandra donned a stunning full ball skirt and detachable off-the-shoulder sleeves; with an elegant updo and a cathedral veil, Alexandra looked like a princess ready to meet her prince. The historical Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel was the perfect cathedral for Mr. and Mrs. Vendejas to renew their vows and affirm their love and commitment to one another, this time in the presence of all their loved ones. The traditional Catholic ceremony came to an end, and the newlyweds were announced once again as husband and wife! After leaving the church, the couple was driven through the cobblestoned city in a vintage car, enjoying a glass of champagne and the sights of the city as people along the streets waved and shouted their congratulations to the bride and groom. It was a special moment Alexandra and Alexander shared for their anniversary.
The celebration returned to the hotel resort where a grand tent held the outdoor reception, Moravian star lanterns floating across the ceiling giving the celebration a warm and inviting ambiance. Blossoms of dusty rose, burgundy, and champagne decorated the guest tables as live music welcomed the newlyweds, the bride now in her mermaid lace gown with billowy bell sleeves and her cascading brunette locks, both ready to kick off the party. Alexander led his wife to the dance floor where they danced to Prince Royce’s cover of “Stand By Me”.
After sharing their special dance, everyone took their seats to enjoy the scrumptious short rib dinner, followed by a decadent white chocolate dessert cup filled with tres leches and topped with fruit. Amongst the dancing, laughter, garter, and bouquet toss, the couple finally cut into their decadent champagne wedding cake decorated in edible Talavera tile, as well as the groom’s cake which was decorated in honor of Alexander’s well-earned Jiu Jitsu belts. The reception continued well into the night with a grand finale fireworks show marking the end of the celebration. As the fireworks lit up the night sky with “I’m Kissing You” by Kevin Simms as the musical accompaniment, Alexandra and Alexander reflected on their love story together. From first meeting through each other’s siblings, a whirlwind romance with a fairytale ending, and their greatest accomplishment – their son, Nico – what could be more special than celebrating their unlimited love surrounded by the friends and family that made that moment possible.
